The Two Older Ladies

 Two older ladies, one with a very particular sounding voice were discussing their ballet lessons. Although I can’t quite describe her voice exactly, I would say it resembled a small animal who had smoked too many cigarettes, drank too much whiskey, and also filled their lungs with helium. Quite the aural delight!

Anyway, they were discussing their weekly ballet lessons and how much they admired their teacher. They both wished that they had begun dancing earlier and that they were able to be disciplined enough to create a physique where their collar bones were more prominent than now. They spoke for at least ten minutes about the beauty of Russian ballet dancers’ collarbones. Their discussion on collarbones was so passionate that without thinking my fingers briefly brushed my own.

Isn’t it wonderful that one simple body part can be the cause of such a lengthy and engaging conversation. I hope the two older ladies not only keep up their ballet lessons but also their admiration for the simple collarbone.
